Family Pictures

This past Saturday we had a photographer (Nong Cavender) take pictures of the family. We had such a good time doing it, and Nong did a great job with the kids. If only they had of been able to get a nap in before the pictures. Anyway, she put a few pictures of the session up for a "sneak peek" so I thought I'd share. She'll have a CD of the edited pictures for me in the next couple of weeks so until then these will have to do!

Baby pool fun!

Asher really LOVES playing in the pool and even just his baby pool. As soon as we got home from church today he ran to the back door wanting to go outside so he could get in the pool. However, it was nap time so he had to wait until he woke up. Mean mommy and daddy. Here are some pictures of him enjoying his water time. Please excuse him being in just his swim diaper. He was too grumpy to put on much else.

This was Asher at dinner tonight. He kept putting his fork on top of his head.

Long day!

Today has been a really busy and long day for us. We got up this morning to get ready for lunch with some friends from out of town. We met them at this BBQ place here. We really enjoyed visiting with them, but unfortunately we didn't get to visit long since we had other things to do. Here are some pictures from our lunch:

From there we went to this area here called Vickery Village. We met a photographer there to have pictures done. It is so incredibly gorgeous out there! The houses are huge (huge doesn't even cover it really), and it has beautiful spots for taking pictures. I'm crossing my fingers that we got some great ones because it was 1 o'clock which is normally nap time for both of the kids. Next week she's going to have a sneak peek, but the whole session won't actually be ready for 2-3 weeks. Here was Asher in the car before our pictures:

When we got home (after the kids took naps) we filled up our baby pool in the backyard rather than go to the neighborhood pool. Asher had a blast in it! He loved playing with the hose while we filled it up. We grilled cheeseburgers afterwards and took our baths to get ready for bed! Well, before his bath Asher insisted that he wear Lorelai's hairbows, and he didn't just want one in his hair.

That's about it for the day! We have finally finished VBS, and we had a blast! I videotaped Asher's performance during the closing ceremony, but we need to get the right adapter for it to get the video on my Mac. Apparently the one we have only works for a PC. When I do, though, I'll be sure to upload it for you!

Here's a few sweet photos to end things from the past week.

Lorelai loves Asher's Hot Wheels as much as he does:

Pictures from VBS. In the first one Asher really needed a haircut. Badly. In the second and third one he was performing the songs with the other kids with his new haircut!

VBS and other fun things this week

This is going to be a pretty busy week for us. Last night was the first night of Vacation Bible School, and Asher is actually in a class this year. He's in the 2 year old class, but that class wasn't open to the public - just 2 year olds whose parents are working VBS. He has had so much fun so far! Last night was the only night they weren't going to be providing dinner so I went to get Asher from his class to eat something (I was going to take him back afterwards), but he decided he was having such a good time he didn't care that much about eating. He wanted to go eat snack with his friends instead. They stay in their room for dinner and crafts, but they go to the choir room for music. I peeked in last night to watch him in there last night, and on the last night (Friday) he'll actually be up on stage doing a song. Needless to say we'll be videotaping and taking tons of pictures. I'm really excited to see this!

Jon is doing VBS with the middle school youth, and we originally only had 6 registered, but by the start of everything there were about 20 people there (including Jon, a parent helping, and me)! Obviously this is a great thing, but it has changed plans a bit. We were going to leave the church to do some activities, but there are too many kids now and not enough vehicles. So I'm not sure what the plan will be for the youth this week.  Anyway, throughout the week and especially at the end of it I'll be sure to post pictures so you can see what we've been doing all week.

In other news this is a video I forgot to upload so here it is. It's of Lorelai learning to crawl. She just drags herself around right now, but she gets where she wants to go really quickly.

Amazing Grace

She's doing it!

Lorelai is officially sitting up. She's still wobbly, but she's no longer only sitting for a few seconds!

Some afterthoughts from yesterday's post

I realized this morning that I didn't really go into detail on the development of the kids.

Asher is almost 27 months old and is still completely 100% in love with his "baby" sister, and for that we are incredibly thankful. He is learning new words daily. It's amazing how quickly they can pick things up even without us realizing it. He can count to 3, but after 3 he just expects us to do something amazing like throw him in the air rather than continuing to count. He says, "One, Two, THREE!!!"

His obsession is "trucks." He has a box of Hot Wheels that he has to take everywhere. They even go to bed with him, and he plays with them until he's ready for sleep and then puts them in the box and goes to sleep. Thankfully it isn't a problem for us - he's never stayed up too late playing with them. He loves to watch monster truck videos. Jon wants to take him to a monster truck rally whenever it's in Atlanta next, but I'm not too keen on that idea. Asher is very much in the stage of being fearful of everything so I feel like that could be a disaster. It's one thing to watch the videos, but it's quite another to be right there in front of all those trucks in a weird place.

Asher is just such a good boy. The nursery workers at church are always so excited to see him and hate when he isn't there. They're always commenting on how sweet he is. It's so nice to hear things like that as a parent and to know that he isn't causing trouble. He's a very passive toddler. He has some friends that he plays with, and he sometimes gets pushed because he has a toy one of them wants, but Asher has never been one to push or push back. He lets them take toys from him and never gets mad or even tells an adult. I'm hoping that he starts sticking up for himself soon because I don't want him getting walked all over, but I'm also so glad that he's not on his way to becoming a bully!

Lorelai is 7 months old now and is our cuddle bug. She loves to be held all the time and would rather be playing on the floor with toys than in a jumper/bouncer. She's become extremely mobile and scoots from room to room already. She isn't crawling, but she digs her toes into the floor and uses her arms to pull herself around. Asher "crawled" like this for the longest time until almost 11 months so we'll see if this is how she chooses to get herself around as well. Needless to say, though, we can't take our eyes off of her. She's really fast!

She isn't sitting up on her own yet, but we're working on it. She can sometimes sit for a few seconds, but that's about it so far. As mentioned in the last post she just had squash for the first time on Monday, and last night she had some more. In a few days she'll try some carrots. I made a ton of different foods for her Monday and Tuesday including squash, carrots, sweet potatoes, peaches, pears, and apples so we're making our way through them to rule out the possibility of allergies.

Lorelai still isn't sleeping through the night, but I don't mind too much. Since she's so small it's only going to help for her to get in a couple of extra feedings. She weighs 13.5 lb. now and is 26 1/2 inches or so.
