Happy Valentine's Day/Photo Shoot

Happy Valentine's Day from the Hoovers!

Today we decided to do a Valentine's Day photo shoot. We had a lot of fun doing it and tried doing it all on our own with a white sheet even to serve as a background. Unfortunately the white sheet was a last minute decision so it was pretty wrinkled. Here are some pics for you to enjoy. Sorry there are so many! It was hard to choose which to post - we took over 200!

This is what Lorelai thought by the end of it:

Long day

Today was a very long and hectic day for us. We decided to celebrate Valentine's Day today in order to avoid the craziness that will be going on tomorrow so we took the kids out and had a nice lunch together. We then went to Target to get a few things and had to rush home right after. We've been without a working dryer for almost a week now, and it's been so hard. Everything, including towels and socks, have had to be line-dried. Needless to say the clothes have taken incredibly long to dry. Pants have taken a minimum of two days. So we had an appliance repairman come to our house to take a look at it. Turns out the motor had gone bad in the dryer. We don't have a fancy dryer at all. It's about as basic as they come so he recommended just getting a new dryer because we'd only be spending a little more on a new one than we would to have them replace the motor.

As soon as he left we fed Lorelai and headed out to check prices at Lowe's, Home Depot, and Sears. Unfortunately we weren't able to buy the best priced dryer because no one had anything in stock other than Lowe's. We were NOT in a position to wait a week for it so we sucked it up and bought one that was a little more expensive in order to get it home tonight. It's after 11:30 PM, and it's still not hooked up in the laundry room. Jon is trying to get everything ready so we can move it in there. Thankfully, though, the kids have been asleep for a little while, but it was a late night for them as well. I just hate having to buy new things like a dryer when our old stuff breaks. But at least I'll be able to dry things the modern way again. :)

In other news I'm super excited because Alyson (for those who don't know she was one of my bridesmaids) and her precious son Cayman are going to be visiting us tomorrow. We were fortunate enough to be able to see them the day after Christmas as well. I think this is the closest our visits have been since Jon and I moved from Wake Forest to Augusta.

Here is a funny video for everyone as well. I hope you enjoy it!

Whew!

Do not fret! I haven't forgotten about my commitment to keep up with my blog. We actually have been without the internet for the past week and a half. We switched internet providers last Monday and have been waiting on our new modem ever since. It's been a pain because it happened when I needed access to the internet more than usual (of course!). But we're back up as of today thankfully.

We have had a rough start to the week so far. Asher came down with a stomach virus on Monday morning. He was being pretty fussy that morning so I decided I should check his temperature just in case. Well, it was 101.7. Naturally I was pretty upset because I hate seeing my baby sick, but I was also worried about Lorelai getting it. So I was checking her temperature as well (rectally - poor things!). At first it seemed she was sick because her temperature got up to 100.5, but I eventually realized something must have been wrong with her thermometer (I used a different one for both of them) because it got different readings every time. So I decided to use Asher's thermometer after cleaning it more than necessary probably. Her temperature was 100% normal. So we only had one sick baby. Well, we had to go to the church to pick something up for Jon in case he needed to stay home with us the next morning and then we went to the bank. As we pulled into the bank parking lot Asher threw up all in his car seat. It was a mess. And of course we weren't prepared so we had no towels or anything. We used Lorelai's burp cloth and whatever other clothing pieces we could sacrifice.

The good news, though, is that the next morning Asher woke up completely healthy again! His temperature was back to normal, and he had his appetite back. He ran around, laughed, ate, and was just back to his old, normal, happy self. We stayed home from church tonight, though, just in case. I didn't feel it was a good idea to leave him in the nursery with other kids just yet.

Jon and I have actually been just waiting on Asher to get sick because he hasn't been sick since last June. We felt it was only a matter of time, and I'm so glad it's over and Lorelai stayed healthy!

db By Design

A friend of mine told me about this blog so I thought I'd check it out. Diane (the owner of this blog) is doing a giveaway of some memory cards with colors and animals on them. They're super cute, and I wanted to let everyone know about it especially the other mommies of toddlers.

Some recent pictures

Since I'm just starting out on my blog I thought I'd add some recent pictures of the kids. I hope you enjoy!

This is when Asher realized that he could use his fire truck for more than just riding - like to reach for things on the counter.

Bed head:

Lorelai is becoming more and more like her brother

Today, for the first time, Lorelai found her thumb! We were so excited for her because she's been trying with great determination to get a finger, thumb, or whole fist in her mouth, but so far nothing more than a knuckle has made it in. However, today she finally did it! I don't know if she'll actually end up being a thumb-sucker like Asher, though, because by her age Asher had already found his thumb quite a few times. In fact, he might have already been doing it religiously.

Here is a picture of her enjoying her new discovery:

Also, Lorelai rolled over completely (she was able to get her arm out of the way as well) from back to tummy on Tuesday (1/27). We were so proud! She's been trying for a little while now, but hasn't been able to maneuver her arm around correctly.
